Blog action day 2010: Water

For some of us, water was never and issue, it's available anytime and anywhere. Water has always ben taken for granted but for some people it isn't. Right now, almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean, safe drinking water. That’s one in eight of us.

Today is Blog Action Day and like thousands of bloggers around the world, I'm trying to raise awareness about clean water.

"Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren't strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.
90% of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are to children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation."

According to the United Nations, fighting over limited resources as the scarcity of water, over the next 25 years, will possibly be the leading reason for major conflicts in Africa, not oil.

A worldwide water crisis is on the way but some people doesn't care. We waste water eveyday : shaving, taking a shower, doinging landury,cleaning... but we aren't aware. May be if next time we use the tap we think about an african child dying from lack of water, we will care. I know that I do, so what about you.
